The Brookings Institution and Brookings United Staff Union Reach Landmark Three-Year Agreement

Yesterday the Brookings Institution and its staff union, Brookings United, which is affiliated with NPEU-IFPTE Local 70, announced the ratification of a landmark three-year collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Building on an initial one-year agreement reached in May 2023, this comprehensive CBA underscores and reinforces ongoing efforts to ensure that all Brookings employees are valued, engaged, and supported. President Biden speaks at Emergency Operations Center in DC to introduce new rule protecting 36 million workers from extreme heat 

On Tuesday, Mayor Muriel Bowser welcomed President Joe Biden to DC's Emergency Operations Center where he introduced a new rule to address excessive heat in the workplace. Leaders across the labor movement are applauding Biden's proposal. "If finalized, this new rule would address some of the most basic needs for workers’ health and safety: water, shade, rest breaks, training and acclimatization for working in hot environments." Anne Arundel Library Workers United files for formal recognition with AFSCME Council 3

Congratulations to members of Anne Arundel Library Workers United who successfully filed for recognition of their union with AFSCME Council 3 on Monday. The union represents nearly 400 librarians, library associates, circulation staff, building care technicians, and others employees of the Anne Arundel County Public Library. Read more »
