Unions and elected leaders call on DDOT to transition Circulator workers

Circulator bus drivers represented by ATU Local 689, along with activists, elected leaders, and other supporters rallied in front of the Wilson Building in DC on Monday, demanding a smooth transition into other jobs as Circulator drivers' positions are being cut.

National Symphony Orchestra musicians unanimously authorize strike

The Metropolitan Washington, D.C., Federation of Musicians, Local 161-710, American Federation of Musicians announced on Monday that members of the National Symphony Orchestra voted unanimously on Friday to authorize a strike against the Kennedy Center over a stalled collective bargaining agreement.

"The union and the Kennedy Center have been in negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement since May," said a statement from the union, which was issued Monday morning, "but remain far apart on wages and other material issues." Read more »
