Laurel City mayor hires union-busting law firm for first contract negotiations with DPW workers

Last year, workers of Laurel's Department of Public Works (DPW) won union representation with UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO. As workers begin contract negotiations for the first time, Laurel City Mayor Keith Sydnor has hired union-avoidance law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. to conduct negotiations.

"They have been on the wrong side of workers' rights and progress at every turn, and it's despicable that Mayor Sydnor would hire them on behalf of Laurel's citizens to suppress the rights of its DPW workers," said Gino Renne, president of UFCW Local 1994.
