Washington Teachers’ Union ratifies new contract with 96% support
Members of the Washington Teachers’ Union overwhelmingly approved a new contract last week by a landslide vote. “Out of the 3,000 members who voted, 2,880 (96%) voted for this new contract! Arlington Transit workers reach deal with Transdev on a new contract
Arlington Transit (ART) workers, represented by ATU Local 689, reached a tentative agreement on a new contract with Transdev last week. After months of negotiations, the agreement marks a major step forward for the workers of ART and would be the first contract for ART workers since they voted overwhelmingly to be represented by ATU Local 689 earlier this year. Governor Moore speaks at AFSCME Maryland event
"AFSCME Maryland is Maryland’s heartbeat," said Governor Wes Moore at a union event this weekend. "We gave state workers a raise – not once, but twice. We signed legislation to extend collective bargaining rights to over 7,000 state supervisors and public library workers. And we partnered with AFSCME and the U.S. Department of Labor to provide $23 million in backpay to State employees who’d been underpaid by our predecessors."
Sign the pledge: Solidarity with hotel workers on strike nationwide
Thousands more hotel workers in the U.S. have gone on strike this week as negotiations between the UNITE HERE labor union and major hotel chains remain very far apart. The union is calling on allies to pledge their support not to eat, sleep, or meet at striking hotels. Sign the pledge to stand with UNITE HERE members and honor their fight!
