Tim Freeman, a hotel worker and member of UNITE HERE in Philadelphia, first knocked doors during Biden's 2020 campaign. He's featured this week in a story about the union's effort to knock 3.5 million doors for Kamala Harris.
"It opened my eyes to seeing what’s important, not just about the voting, but the issues, and then connecting with the voters,” said Freeman. “Strength is in numbers and the more you gather, collect, and give out information to people to let them know, this is what we’re here for and this is why we canvass."
In this final week of the election, Affiliates of the Metropolitan Washington Council are knocking doors and making calls to elect labor-backed candidates on the ballot. Here's a recap of our efforts and how you can get involved in the final days.

A new analysis by EPI Action puts a price tag on one piece of the Project 2025 agenda: banning public sector unions like AFSCME. "If such attacks led to even a 50% reduction in the share of public-sector workers covered by a union contract, it would cost U.S. workers roughly $77 billion annually in lost wages and benefits — and the harm would not just be confined to the workers losing union coverage,” the analysis’ authors conclude.
