Action: Sign up to picket with resident physicians at GWU

In a powerful show of solidarity, members of SEIU CIR who are resident physicians and fellows at George Washington University voted overwhelmingly to authorize their bargaining team to call for a strike. For more than a year, CIR has bargained in good faith, yet GWU representatives continue to fail to make meaningful movement on any of union members' core demands.

The union is now are moving forward with a three day unfair labor practice strike starting on Tuesday, December 17 at 6:00 a.m. Join CIR on the picket line this week to demand GWU stop breaking federal labor law.

Take action today for the Social Security Fairness Act

Last week the labor movement and members of Congress rallied in the pouring rain in support of the Social Security Fairness Act, a bill which would repeal the long-standing and unfair provisions WEP and GPO. Leaders from AFL-CIO, IAFF, AFGE, AFSCME, APWU, Alliance for Retired Americans, IFPTE,  AFT, and NALC joined the event to support the bill.

The Senate only has until December 20 to pass this critical legislation. Send a letter or call your Senators today urging them to pass the Social Security Fairness Act.
