Workers at first unionized Apple store reach historic tentative agreement

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers’ (IAM) Coalition of Organized Retail Employees (CORE) has reached a tentative agreement with Apple that improves work-life balance, raises pay and helps protect job security.

Workers at the Towson, Maryland, Apple retail store, the first in the country to unionize, will vote on the tentative agreement on August 6.

"From the beginning, IAM CORE’s mission has been to improve Apple for our employees, customers and communities," said the IAM CORE Negotiating Committee. "Together, we can build on this success in store after store and grow the power IAM CORE has started here in Maryland." Read more »


Housekeepers to picket at Hyatt Regency Crystal City

Housekeepers at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City will hold a union election on August 16 — and workers along with UNITE HERE Local 25 will be picketing every Saturday until then. 

"The hotel is union busting, holding anti-union meetings and passing out anti-union leaflets," said Local 25 organizer Amanda Michelle Gomez. "Workers are staying strong but could use support." Kroger workers: "We won't leave anyone behind"

Kroger workers like those pictured here work at stores where most associates have signed up to join UFCW Local 400, but Kroger is refusing to respect their choice and allow them to be part of Local 400. Workers are standing together with the union to demand that every store where a majority of associates have signed up for the union has the same benefits and protections of our contract.
